• Gearbox main shaft bearing preload shim – 0.004″ thickness.

• These precision shims are fitted behind the gearbox main shaft double roller bearing retaining cap and are used to accurately set main shaft bearing preload during gearbox assembly or rebuilds.

• Correct preload setup is critical for gearbox longevity, smooth operation and bearing life. As outlined in the workshop manual, the desired preload setting is approximately 0.001″ (1 thou) preload.

• Ideal for gearbox rebuilders wanting accurate setup and proper tolerances rather than simply “bolting it together and hoping for the best.”

• Precision gearbox work is all about tiny measurements… where one thou can mean the difference between silky smooth and expensive noises.
