Adjustable tie bars on a Classic Minis and Mokes are mainly used to accurately set the front caster angle, and that can make a noticeable difference to steering feel, stability and handling.
Main benefits of adjustable tie bars

Standard fixed tie bars assume the shell and suspension are perfectly symmetrical. On older Minis, accident repairs, worn components and production tolerances can mean the caster differs side to side. Adjustable bars let you correct that.
Important Note
They are best set using a proper wheel alignment. Randomly shortening the bars can give excessive caster, uneven left-to-right settings, tyre clearance problems or heavier steering.
