MINI 850 & COOPER SLIDING WINDOW BOTTOM TRACK [24A88]

$69.95
SKU: 24A88

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Genuine-style lower sliding window bottom track to suit Mini 850 and early Mini Mk1 / Mk2 sliding window doors.

These are quality copies of the original solid-type window channel, made with stronger reinforced internal wire and supplied with drainage and securing holes. They fit either left-hand or right-hand doors, provided the holes line up with the window catch moulding.

A worn or rotten lower window track can make the sliding glass loose, stiff or poorly sealed. Replacing the track helps restore smoother window operation while keeping the correct original-style appearance for valuable early Mini restorations.

WHY CHOOSE THE ORIGINAL STYLE?

On an early Mini, small details matter. These solid-type bottom tracks are made to replicate the original design, making them the right choice for Mk1 and Mk2 cars where originality, fit and finish are important.

They are a far better option than using generic channel material on a valuable early Mini restoration.

IMPORTANT FITMENT NOTE

Cut or trim the channel as required during fitting. For easier installation, cut the front door section of the channel at an angle.

Original screws [GHF400] may be used if the mounting holes have not been enlarged by rust. If the holes are damaged or enlarged, suitable replacement fixings may be required.

DRAIN HOLE NOTE

If the channel does not already have drain holes drilled, the larger 6.5mm holes in the chrome glazing strip can be used to identify the drain hole positions. The smaller holes are for fastening the channel and glazing strip to the door frame.

To make drain holes in the channel:

  • Use the window catch rails [24A1303] and [24A1304] as a template
  • Mark the drain hole positions on the closed face of the channel
  • Drill pilot holes carefully with a 3mm drill bit
  • Open the holes from the channel side with a 5mm drill bit to remove burrs
  • Check that the window glass slides freely before final assembly

New fixing holes may also be drilled through the open side of the channel into the correct area of the door frame if required.
