WATER PUMP PULLEY LARGE [CAM6408]

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Large diameter water pump pulley to suit Mini and Moke A-Series engines.

This oversized water pump pulley was fitted as standard on later model cars and will fit many earlier models as well. It is designed to reduce horsepower drag from the water pump and slow the coolant flow through the radiator, giving the coolant more time to transfer heat and helping improve cooling efficiency at higher RPM.

Originally fitted to Cooper S models and later reintroduced on A-Plus engines, this pulley is a worthwhile upgrade for engines that are driven harder, rev higher, or need better cooling control.

WHY FIT A LARGE WATER PUMP PULLEY?

At higher RPM, the water pump can move coolant too quickly and may contribute to cavitation in the water jacket. This can reduce cooling efficiency and place unnecessary load on the engine.

Using a larger water pump pulley helps slow the pump speed, reduce horsepower drain and improve coolant control. When used with a high-capacity water pump, it can help reduce cavitation while still circulating a greater volume of coolant.

IMPORTANT FITMENT NOTE

Clearance must be checked between the large pulley and the cylinder head before final fitting.

If a large amount of material has been machined from the cylinder head face, the pulley may foul the head.

Small bore engines fitted with [12G940] cylinder heads cannot use [CAM6408].
