Relaxed Highway Cruising Without Sacrificing Driveability
This 3.2:1 crown wheel and pinion is an excellent upgrade for Mini owners looking to reduce engine RPM at highway speeds while still retaining strong everyday performance.
Compared with the standard factory ratios fitted to most Minis and Mokes, the 3.2:1 ratio provides noticeably lower cruising revs, making the vehicle quieter, more comfortable, and less busy on long drives. Unlike the taller 3.1:1 ratio [CWP3-1], the 3.2:1 still retains much of the off-the-line responsiveness that can be lost when gearing becomes too tall.
While acceleration will be slightly reduced compared with the standard Cooper “S” 3.44:1 gearing, the improvement in highway manners makes this one of the most popular ratios for road-going Minis and Mokes that regularly travel on modern roads.
Suitable Applications
- This crown wheel and pinion suits all Mini gearboxes
- May not be compatible with some early LSD units
- Please note that some early gearboxes may require minor relieving of the double-row bearing flange area to provide adequate clearance during installation.
- Does not suit 13″ Moke with standard tyres.
