Evolution straight cut 30 tooth idler gear to suit Pre A+ Mini and Moke drop gear applications.

Straight cut drop gears are one of the strongest and most durable gear arrangements available for a transverse A-Series power unit. These gears transfer engine power through to the gearbox, so strength, correct fitment and long-term reliability are critical in any serious engine or gearbox build.

This 30 tooth idler gear forms part of the Evolution straight cut drop gear range, allowing different ratios to be achieved by changing the primary gear and / or input gear.

PERFORMANCE BENEFITS

Straight cut drop gears reduce side loading compared with helical gear arrangements. This helps reduce power loss, lowers wear on the idler thrust washers and improves durability in a high-load area of the drivetrain.

The latest Evolution design uses updated tooth profiles and shot peened finishing for improved strength, durability and quieter operation compared with earlier straight cut gear designs.

IMPORTANT FITMENT NOTE

These latest EVO straight cut drop gears have new 2 ring identification marks and are not interchangeable with earlier drop gears due to the different tooth profile.

This idler gear is designed around the Evolution 30 tooth idler gear system. To change ratios, the matching primary gear and / or input gear must be selected to suit the desired final drop gear ratio.

REBUILD ADVICE

When fitting straight cut drop gears, always check gear compatibility, idler gear end float, bearing condition, thrust washer condition and housing wear before final assembly. Correct setup is essential for strength, quiet operation and long gearbox life.
