This starter is supplied as a brand new outright unit, meaning there is no need to return your old starter motor. This is ideal for overseas customers, restorers, or owners who want to keep their original starter for future rebuilding.

IMPORTANT FITMENT NOTE

Do not fit the 10 tooth starter often sold as a cheaper alternative. The incorrect 10 tooth starter can damage the ring gear or Bendix drive.

Other Leyland vehicles such as Sprite, Spitfire and Mini Metro used 10 tooth starter motors, and these are sometimes incorrectly fitted to Minis because they are easier to find. The correct 9 tooth pinion is rarer, but it is the correct starter type for Mini 107 tooth ring gears.
